COMPATIBILITY
FEATURES
Calculate metrics and link data across tables. In Excel 2021 and newer releases, XLOOKUP and dynamic arrays simplify searches and data selections.
Summarize a large list by categories, dates or departments. Rearranging fields gives a different view of the same data without changing the source table.
Use colors, icons, and bars to highlight values that meet specified conditions. This makes it easier to spot deviations, duplicates, and important changes in a large range.
Set allowed numbers, dates, and dropdown options. Input messages and error alerts help people fill in a shared spreadsheet consistently.
Power Query combines exports and saves processing steps. It is built into modern Windows releases; Mac and browser capabilities depend on the version and subscription.
Compare metrics and display data structure and changes visually. In Excel 2024, dynamic charts adjust to the size of the array returned by a formula.
LAMBDA lets you turn a reusable formula into a named function. Available in Excel 2024 and Microsoft 365, it helps maintain complex calculations.
IMAGE adds an image to a cell, keeping it associated with the row's data. Support depends on the release and platform, including Excel 2024 and Microsoft 365.
Participants edit a shared cloud workbook without exchanging separate copies. Access depends on the app and license; retail releases and LTSC differ in their capabilities.
Record repetitive actions and refine them in the VBA editor. Desktop versions for Windows and Mac support macros; you cannot create or run VBA in the browser.
Record actions and create scripts for repetitive operations. Office Scripts is available in supported Microsoft 365 apps with an eligible license and appropriate organization settings.
Use Python to analyze data within a workbook with a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription. Access depends on the platform and update channel; mobile Excel does not support Python.
HELP CENTER
Enabled downloads lead directly to verified installer files. — Use an enabled Download button for Mac, Windows to retrieve the matching English installer directly from the official publisher. Check the selected product and license before installation. Account, store and guide pages are not offered as downloads.
Downloading an installer does not replace a license. — For everyday tasks, you can try the web version; desktop capabilities depend on a purchase or subscription.
Choose the language through the official installation or app settings. — Choose English in the available installer or application settings. Display and proofing languages can be configured separately. Language settings for an existing licensed installation do not establish that a new installer download is available.
Use the installation path for your actual device and license. — Check the official system requirements, platform, edition and architecture before installation. On Windows, confirm compatibility with existing Office apps and add-ins. Windows installation media cannot be installed on macOS or mobile devices.
Open Excel for the web: it does not require an installer. — If you need to work with a workbook offline or use desktop add-ins, choose a compatible app.
